Charge for the Group You Already Run

Put a price on your WhatsApp or Telegram group so people pay before they get the invite, and you stop adding members by hand.

Charge for the Group You Already Run

You have a group. People ask to join it. Some of them have paid you, some of them were added by a friend of a friend, and you could not say for certain which is which without scrolling back through six months of transfer screenshots.

So you do the thing everyone does. You check the message, you check your bank app, you add them by hand, and you make a mental note that you really should get organised about this.

That whole loop is the part you can hand over.

What changes, and what does not

Your group stays exactly where it is. Your members carry on in the app they already have open. Nobody is asked to sign up for something new to keep talking to you.

The only thing that changes is the door. Instead of sharing the invite link, you share a Trankets link. Someone who opens it sees what the group is, what it costs, and a button. The invite link is only revealed after their payment lands.

That is the entire mechanism, and it is the reason it works: you are not policing a list any more, because nobody without a receipt ever gets the link.

Setting it up

Create a community from your dashboard and paste your group's invite link. We work out from the link whether it is WhatsApp or Telegram, so you do not have to tell us something we can already see.

Then decide two things.

What buys the way in. You can sell access on its own, on its own page with its own price. Or you can attach it to something you already sell, so that everyone who buys a ticket to your workshop or a copy of your course is let in automatically, with nothing for you to send.

How long one purchase buys. Thirty days, a year, or access that never lapses. Whatever you pick, it is counted from the moment that person paid.

If you are not sure, start with access that does not expire. You can shorten it later, and you will have learned what your group is actually worth by then.

What your buyer sees

A page with the name of your group, your description, and a price in their own currency. They pay by card, bank transfer or USSD, and they do not need a Trankets account to do it.

Then they get the invite link, and a receipt by email with a link back to the same page. That receipt matters more than it looks: it means nobody ever has to message you asking for the link again, because they can always find it in their inbox.

The part worth being straight about

Once someone is inside a WhatsApp or Telegram group, we cannot remove them. It is your group, not ours, and no outside tool can reach into it.

So if you set access to expire, what expires is their ability to fetch the invite again. Somebody already in the room stays in the room until you remove them yourself, or until you rotate the invite link, which you can do whenever you like from your dashboard.

If you want access that ends absolutely, run the room on Trankets instead. Same buyers, same page, one setting. That is covered in what happens when access runs out.

Why this is worth doing even if your group is free today

Every person who pays becomes a contact of yours. Not a phone number in a group you cannot export, but a name, an amount, and a record that sits alongside everyone who ever bought a ticket or a course from you.

Which means the next thing you launch does not start with you typing an announcement into a group and hoping. It starts with a list of people who have already paid you once.
