Prepare Your First SMS Campaign
Choose eligible contact groups, review a personalised SMS and approve its cost before sending.
SMS campaigns are being prepared for a controlled pilot. If your account has access, you can use one for a seminar without tickets or another update that needs a short message. This guide takes you from a draft to a reviewed send.
What You Will Learn
- Choose contact groups whose recipients have campaign SMS permission
- Preview the final message and its billable segments
- Review the eligible audience, credit cost and sending window
- Check the campaign result after sending
Step 1: Create a draft
Open SMS campaigns in your dashboard and select Create SMS campaign. Give the draft an internal name. Creating or saving a draft sends nothing.
Choose the relevant contact groups. A contact record, purchase or event registration does not grant permission to send marketing SMS. Recipients who opted out or have no suitable permission are excluded. See groups and imports before preparing a large audience.
Step 2: Write and save the message
Write a short update that identifies your business and explains why the recipient is hearing from you. Use the available personalisation fields only where their fallback reads naturally. Trankets adds the required business identification and opt-out instruction to the final message.
Select Save draft, then Prepare review. The review shows recipient samples, exclusions, final segments and the total estimated credits. If you edit the draft, prepare it again before sending.
Step 3: Review the send
Check eligible recipients, the final text and the maximum credit cost. A personalised or Unicode message may use more than one billable segment. A one-recipient test is a real, paid SMS to an eligible contact, separate from the campaign send.
Choose an available sending window and approve the send only after reviewing the estimate. SMS campaigns currently support Nigerian phone numbers. Sending hours and daily pauses use Africa/Lagos time, with your account timezone shown for comparison. Scheduling is subject to the same rules.
Step 4: Check the outcome
Open the campaign to review submitted, delivered, failed or unresolved messages. Provider acceptance is not proof that a handset received or read an SMS. Do not resend an uncertain paid attempt automatically; check its status first.
