Understanding the Discovery Score

This guide explains how Trankets calculates the discovery score for events and products. It lists the inputs and what you can do to improve completeness and engagement.

Where to find this

  • Discovery dashboard: Dashboard → Discovery
  • Per-item detail: Dashboard → Discovery → [Your item], filtered by Event or Product

How the score is calculated

The discovery score combines three things:

  1. Completeness. How fully you have filled out the item details.
  2. Engagement. Recent views, sales, and product reviews.
  3. Plan tier boost. Higher plans give a boost.

If completeness is below 30, the quality part of the score is zero. Scores are recalculated daily and can exceed 100.

Engagement signals

ResourceSignalWeight
EventWeekly views× 0.1
EventWeekly conversions (ticket sales)× 2.0
ProductWeekly views× 0.1
ProductWeekly sales× 5.0

Product review score

The review score is based on the average star rating out of 5, multiplied by 10. If the product has 3 or more reviews, it gets a bonus of 5 points.

Engagement scores decay with a one-week half-life. Recent activity counts more than older activity.

How to improve your score

  1. Go to Dashboard → Discovery.
  2. Click an item to open its detail view.
  3. Add missing completeness fields listed above.
  4. Drive traffic and sales through your own audience and marketing.
  5. Ask verified buyers to leave reviews on products.
  6. Wait for the next daily recalculation, or trigger a recalc from the item detail page.

What happens next

  • Trankets recalculates scores every 24 hours.
  • Higher completeness and recent engagement raise the score.
  • Scores drop over time if engagement stops, because of the weekly half-life decay.

Limits and requirements

  • Completeness below 30 sets the quality part of the score to 0.
  • Scores are not capped at 100.
  • Event attendees do not count as product buyers.
  • Only verified product buyers can leave reviews.

Common issues

  • Score dropped suddenly: Engagement decay reduces the score if views or sales slow down.
  • Score stuck low: Check completeness on the item detail page; missing fields have a large impact.
  • No review score: Products with no reviews miss the review component of engagement.
