File Delivery

You sell it once; Trankets delivers it every time. This guide explains what happens between "payment confirmed" and "file on the buyer's device" - and what to tell a buyer when something goes wrong.

What You Will Learn

  • How buyers receive their files
  • How link expiry and download limits work
  • How a buyer gets a fresh link on their own
  • What each error state means

What Happens After Purchase

  1. The buyer sees an order confirmation.
  2. A secure, personal download link is generated for that purchase.
  3. The link is emailed to the buyer (when your Auto-send purchase email setting is on - it is by default).
  4. The buyer opens the download page and downloads each file.

Free products follow the same flow after Get it Free - no payment step, same secure delivery.

Download Links

  • Each purchase gets its own link - nothing is shared between buyers.
  • Links expire after a few days. When a link expires, the buyer can request a fresh one themselves (see below) - no support ticket, no work for you.
  • Download limits are snapshotted at purchase. The limit that applied when they bought is the limit they keep - changing your product's limit later never affects existing buyers. If a product has no limit of its own, your account-wide Default Download Limit from Selling Rules applies.

The Download Page

The buyer's download page shows the product, each file with its own download button, and how many downloads they have remaining. Two extras work for you while they are there:

  • An invite to share the product as an affiliate - your buyers become your promoters.
  • A prompt to finish setting up their Trankets account, which is also what lets them request a refund or leave a review later.

When a Link Expires

The buyer does not need you. The expired-link page has a Request New Download Link button: they enter the email they bought with, click Send New Link, and a fresh link arrives. The email must match the purchase - that is what keeps a forwarded link useless to anyone else.

A new link does not reset the download count. A buyer who used up their downloads still needs you: check the purchase on your product's Purchases tab and decide whether to raise the product's limit or handle it directly.

Where You See Purchases

Open your product and switch to the Purchases tab - every order with status, currency, and buyer details, filterable and exportable. (Your own My Purchases page in the sidebar is the buyer side - things you bought from others.)

Common Issues

IssueWhat to tell the buyer
Email never arrivedCheck spam first; the download link email comes from your store's sender
Link expiredUse Request New Download Link on the page - it arrives by email
"Download limit exceeded"Their downloads are used up - this one comes to you to resolve
Buyer shared the linkIt only regenerates to the purchase email, so the shared copy dies with the expiry
