How to Create an Event
A step-by-step guide to creating an event on Trankets, from basic details to publishing.
How to Create an Event
This guide takes you from a blank dashboard to a live event page with its own shareable link. It takes about five minutes.
What You Will Learn
- Create an event and choose its permanent link
- Set the format: in person, online, or hybrid
- Control visibility and registration
- Find your way around the event dashboard afterwards
Step 1: Start a New Event
- Go to Events in your dashboard.
- Click Create Event. The create form opens as a full page with four tabs: Basics, Location, Details, and Settings.
Only two fields are strictly required: the event name and the start date. Everything else can be added later - but the more you fill in now, the more your event page sells for you.
Step 2: Basics
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Event Image | Cover image, shown on the event page and social previews. 1200 x 630 pixels works best. |
| Event Name | Public title shown on the event page and in emails. |
| Event link | Your event's URL ending, shown as trankets.com/events/your-link. Availability is checked live as you type. |
| Summary | Short teaser shown on discovery cards, search results, and link previews. |
| Category | Used for discovery filtering. |
| Start Date / End Date | End date is for multi-day events. Your timezone is detected automatically. |
Step 3: Location and Format
The Location tab starts with one decision - Event format: In person, Online, or Hybrid.
- In-person and hybrid events get a location picker ("Where is your event?"), an optional venue name, and optional street address and directions.
- Online and hybrid events can take a meeting link and access notes now, or you can add them later from the event's Virtual event page. See Host a virtual event.
Step 4: Details
The rich-text description for your public event page. This is where you make the case: what happens, who it is for, why this one is worth their evening.
Step 5: Settings, Then Create
The Settings tab controls how the event behaves:
- Public Listing - shows the event on the discovery page. On by default.
- Public registration - anyone with the link can register. On by default.
- Total capacity, Show attendee count, and Currency visitors see first - covered in Event settings explained.
Click Create event. You land on your new event's dashboard, with the public link ready to share. (If you leave mid-way, the form warns you about unsaved changes.)
Finding Your Way Around
The event dashboard has three tabs:
- Overview - stats, your event links (public page, registration, check-in), and quick actions.
- Manage - cards for every working surface: Manage Tickets, Manage Attendees, Reminders, Email Analytics, Email Template, Invitation Page, FAQs, Categories & Tags, Seating, and Virtual event (for online and hybrid events).
- Settings - event configuration plus the Danger Zone (cancel or delete).
Common Issues
- URL ending already taken. Event links are unique across Trankets - the form checks availability live and prompts you to adjust.
- Cannot save. Add an event name and start date - those are the two required fields.
- Event not visible on discovery. Check Public Listing in Settings. With it off, the event is only reachable via direct link - useful for private gatherings.
